EVERETT — The Everett AquaSox have a new general manager.

Danny Tetzlaff is the new general manager of the short-season single-A Northwest League team, the team announced Wednesday.

Tetzlaff will oversee the day-to-day operations of the AquaSox. He has no influence on determining Everett’s roster, as that’s decided by the AquaSox’s parent club, the Seattle Mariners.

The hiring of Tetzlaff fills the void created when Everett’s top two front-office executives, executive vice president Tom Backemeyer and vice president of corporate partnerships Brian Sloan, both stepped down to pursue other opportunities.

Tetzlaff brings 13 years of experience running baseball teams to the Sox. Most recently he served as general manager of the Yakima Valley Pippins, a collegiate summer team in the West Coast League. He also spent three years with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs of the Class 3A International League, and he was named the 2006 Pioneer League Executive of the Year when running the Casper Rockies.

“After previously working in the Northwest League with the Yakima Bears, I am excited and humbled to have this amazing opportunity with the Everett AquaSox,” Tetzlaff said in a press release. “I am looking forward to being a part of the tradition already in place in Everett, and making summers at Everett Memorial Stadium even more memorable in 2015.”
