LYNNWOOD — A Bothell man died Saturday, five days after his car ended up in a Lynnwood drainage pond, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Christopher W. Kmetz, 41, was taken to Swedish/Edmonds hospital in Edmonds after his car went off the road Monday. He was driving southbound on I-5 when he tried to take an eastbound off ramp at 196th in Lynnwood.

His 2003 Honda left the roadway to the east, just before a sharp right turn, according to a State Patrol memo. That’s when his car ended up in the pond.

The accident was reported shortly after 6 p.m. Monday.

Kmetz was transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
