Front Porch: Conference on race Saturday

The fourth annual North Puget Sound Conference on Race will be held Saturday, May 2 at the Jackson Center at Everett Community College. Hosted by the Communities of Color Coalition, this free event features a day of seminars, talks and performances, with a keynote address by social justice activist Michael Benitez.

Join a Sno-Isle Libraries board: Sno-Isls Libraries seeks three members for the Camano Island Library Advisory Board. Board members are tasked with advising the Sno-Isle Board of Trustees on local and regional library issues. The terms would begin in July and last for three years. Applicants must live on Camano Island. They can pick up an application at the Camano Island Library, 848 North Sunrise Boulevard, or find it online at www.sno-isle.org/locations/camano/board-vacancy. Applications must be submitted by May 21 to be considered. Learn to boat: The Lake Stevens Police Department plans a boating safety class on May 9.

The “Adventures in Boating” class fulfills all requirements needed to obtain a Boater Education Card. The class is free to people who live in city limits. It is set for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 12309 22nd St NE. To reserve a spot: 425-334-9537. There are 30 spots available.
