LYNNWOOD — Senior hurler Garrett Walsh struck out seven, walked none, and allowed just one earned run in seven innings to lead Meadowdale to victory over Mountlake Terrace in a Wesco 3A South baseball game with playoff implications.

Meadowdale senior Kenley Ackerman went 2-for-3 and delivered a walk-off single in the seventh inning with one out while Dakota Barlament singled in two runs in the fifth inning to tie the game.

According to Meadowdale coach Bill Hummel, the win means the Mavericks conclude the regular season as Wesco 3A South’s third-place team and are slated to open the playoffs at Oak Harbor on Saturday.

On the other hand, Mountlake Terrace finished fourth in the conference and will play a district play-in game at 4 p.m. Thursday against Marysville Getchell, with the winner moving on to face Marysville Pilchuck, the top-seeded team in Wesco 3A North, on Saturday.

For Mountlake Terrace, Jared Maxfield went 3-for-3 with an RBI double and a huge play on defense. Maxfield made a diving catch in the outfield on a line drive with the bases loaded in the fifth inning that kept Meadowdale from breaking the game open with the game still tied up at three.

Jaden Yackley also doubled for the Hawks.
