Prep boys soccer: Sultan 2, Meridian 1

SULTAN — Sultan and Meridian played to a 1-1 tie before the Turks won the shootout 5-3 to advance to the 1A Bi- District Tournament.

Sultan’s Josh Morehead tied the game in the 71st minute on a penalty kick. Goalkeeper Dawson Songstad made a save on Meridian’s first attempt in penalty kicks and the Turk scored all five of theirs to seal the victory. Sultan plays Tuesday against Seattle Academy at Interlake High School.
