Prep football: Monroe 55, Cascade 14

EVERETT — Monroe exploded for 41 points in the first quarter and finished with 556 yards of total offense in a rout of Cascade in Wesco 3A action Friday night.

The leading rusher for the Bearcats was JJ Jerome, who scampered for 134 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries. The junior running back also caught two passes for 11 yards, including a 4-yard touchdown catch.

Quarterback Zach Zimmerman was 9-of-10 passing for 152 yards and two touchdowns. The junior signal-caller also rushed three times for 49 yards and a score for Monroe.

Sophomore wide receiver Isaiah Cole also had a big night for the Bearcats, with three catches for 84 yards and a touchdown in addition to a 99-yard scoring run.

On defense, Bearcats senior safety Jesse Jarosky made four tackles, picked off a pass, and recovered a fumble.

Cascade’s night was highlighted by senior quarterback Devon Kleiner, who rushed 21 times for 161 yards and two scores.
