Brandon comes to Everett tonight on two-game skid

The Everett Silvertips hold their first mid-week game of the year and I expect Xfinity Arena to be quite energized as the Brandon Wheat Kings come to town.
The defending Eastern Conference champions and preseason WHL favorites are a bit of a wounded animal. The Wheat Kings are coming off back-to-back five-goal defeats following Sunday’s 5-0 loss at Portland and last night’s 7-2 loss at Seattle. It also sounded like it was quite a spectacle with a reported 37 NHL scouts on hand last night. Nevertheless the Silvertips certainly hope Carter Hart can flummox the high-scoring Wheat Kings offense again tonight.
In other news:
In Tuesday’s other game the Lethbridge Hurricanes continued their torrid tear as they knocked off Victoria 4-3 in a shootout. It was the Hurricanes’ seventh straight victory.
The Western Canada Challenge Cup commences today in Calgary. Tips 2015 bantam draftee Brett Kemp will compete for Team Saskatchewan.
Here is an interesting story on Rod Stewart’s son Liam, who played with Spokane Chiefs and is now with the Alaska Aces. For those scoring at home, the Aces are the club that bequeathed current Tips broadcaster Mike Benton to Everett.
