OAK HARBOR — A 17-year-old boy was shot Wednesday morning at a home north of Oak Harbor.

He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and was listed Thursday in serious condition in intensive care. The Island County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

“This does not appear to be a random shooting, and we don’t believe there is a threat to the general public at this time,” Sheriff Mark Brown said in a news release sent Thursday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at tips@co.island.wa.us or 360-679-9567. The sheriff’s office did not notify the public of the shooting for more than 24 hours. No other information about the location of the shooting was provided.

“The investigation is ongoing and very fluid,” Brown said.
