LA PUSH — Coast Guard personnel rescued three people from a life raft after their fishing vessel sank about 38 miles west of La Push.
Coast Guard officials said in a news release Thursday that personnel made the rescue Monday after a mayday call came from the crew of a 38-foot vessel saying they were taking in water. Shortly after the call, communication with the vessel was lost.
A helicopter crew spotted the fishermen first as they were putting on survival gear and getting into a life raft but couldn’t drop a rescue swimmer due to the weather. Instead they told a rescue vessel where to find the raft and they rescued the men.
No injuries were reported.
