PTA gift event so heartwarming

On Dec. 11 at View Ridge Elementary in Everett all of the children at the school picked out for their family members free gifts of their choice and had them wrapped to take home. The gifts were provided by the PTA and other donors free to all of the kids, as was the wrapping paper, boxes, bows and ribbon.
The gym floor was covered with gifts in the categories of mom, dad, teens and boys and girls. Each class was escorted to the gym where volunteers helped the kids pick their gifts and led them to the wrapping stations where their gifts were wrapped. They got to help choose paper, ribbons and bags and personalize their gifts with tags they filled out in class.
Most of the kids were so excited and some were concerned that they didn’t bring any money. The sight of their faces lighting up when they were told it was all free was priceless. This is a year-long effort for the school and PTA. I don’t know how long they have done this as this was my first year, but it is incredible what is done for each child! They are very organized and there were lots of donations of gifts, wrapping stuff and time.
My hat is off to the View Ridge PTA, and all of the Moms, Dads, Grandparents and all of those who donated and bought for this event. The pizza and coffee and treats in the wrapping room were very much appreciated and probably donated by the businesses. Thank you to all and a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday to all.
