Seahawks don’t play, but inch closer to playoff berth

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost 31-23 to the St. Louis Rams on Thursday night. That means the Seahawks are that much closer to clinching an NFC playoff berth.
In case you missed it, on Thursday I hashed out Seattle’s scenarios for clinching a playoff berth this weekend. Tampa Bay losing increases the possibility significantly. Now if the Seahawks beat Cleveland on Sunday, then they would only need one of Washington or the New York Giants to lose to assure themselves a place in the postseason.
Washington is hosting Buffalo, while the Giants are hosting undefeated Carolina. One has to think the chances are good that at least one of those NFC East teams will lose. So if the Seahawks take care of business against the 3-10 Browns at home, it’s likely Seattle can plan for a Week 18.
