SEATTLE — A burn ban for Darrington took effect at 1 p.m. Sunday.
The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency put in place a prohibition on burning in any wood fireplaces, wood stoves, fireplace inserts and pellet stoves in Darrington, unless it is the only source of heat. If it is the sole source of warmth, smoke should not be visible.
Outdoor burning is also prohibited, including wood and charcoal-fueled recreational fires.
Restrictions have been lifted for the rest of Snohomish County. A stronger weather front is expected by Monday that is expected to bring better air quality into early next week.
