The Game
The Silvertips scored first, second and last as they snapped a two-game losing streak and remained mathematically alive for the U.S. Division title.
However, Seattle only needs to win one of its final four games to wrest the mantle from Everett. The Thunderbirds get their first chance Tuesday.
Noah Juulsen atoned for a third-period turnover that resulted in Portland’s first goal by scoring the game-winner with a wrister from the left circle in overtime. It’s the second time the Canadiens first-rounder has scored a walkoff game-winner. The first came in a 3-2 win at Kamloops on Jan. 2.
Backup goalie Mario Petit allowed two third-period goals. The first goal was the result of Juulsen falling down and surrendering the puck to Rodrigo Abols, who fired past Petit. The second came courtesy of a beautiful cross-ice pass from Caleb Jones to Rihards Bukarts, who then stuck it inside the post.
Petit improved to 3-1-3 on the season.
The bad news, however, is that Carson Stadnyk left with an apparent lower body injury in the second period. He seemed to be in a lot of pain and had to be helped to the dressing room by trainer Wayne Duncan and Graham Millar.
If Stadnyk is out long-term it would be bad for Everett’s postseason prospects. The overager is the Tips’ second-leading scorer with 20 goals and 28 assists.
Everett was already down to 17 dressed players with Dawson Leedahl missing his second straight game and Tristen Pfeifer scratched on Sunday.
Uh oh, Everett’s Carson Stadnyk is down in a lot of pain, getting helped off, can’t put weight on his right leg.

Didn’t see what happened to him, but it appears Carson Stadnyk is done for the night – helped off in a ton of pain pic.twitter.com/s6ErxL2cgl

Stadnyk just kinda collapsed by the Portland net, I didn’t see a big twist or anything. But he was really obviously hurting a lot.

The Turning Point
Juulsen’s game-winner at 1:12 in overtime sent the Tips home victorious.
Three Stars
1. Portland F Rihards Bukarts: The overager continues to plague the Tips as he scored the game-tying goal at 10:05 in the third period.
2. Everett D Kevin Davis: The blueliner assisted each of Everett’s first two goals and was plus-two for the game.
3. Everett D Noah Juulsen: The Montreal prospect scored the game-winner in overtime.
