“The Importance of Being Earnest,” Oscar Wilde’s “trivial comedy for serious people” about “romance, secret identities and cucumber sandwiches” is directed by Jeremy Anderson. Performances are 7:30 p.m. April 1, 2, 8 and 9 with 2 p.m. matinees on April 2 and 9. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students, seniors and military.

“Spotlight on Local Playwrights” featuring Christopher Bailey and his “Man Defeats Nature,” runs through March 26. The play tells the story of a family whose adult son hasn’t recovered a year after the eruption of Mount St. Helens. Performances are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. $15.
“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” musical comedy, April 22 to May 8.
“Suite Surrender,” an homage to the farces of the 1930s and ‘40s, June 10 to 26.
Darrington Community Talent Show: 7 p.m. April 1, high school auditorium, presented by the Darrington Historical Society. There an emphasis on comedy this year due to the auspicious date of the show.

Youth productions
“Into the Woods”: Ludus Performing Arts hits the stage with the epic fairy tale musical by Stephen Sondheim about wishes, family and the choices we make. Performances are 7 p.m. March 25, and 2 and 7 p.m. March 26 at the Snohomish County PUD Auditorium, 2320 California, Everett. Tickets, $15, are available at the door or at www.ludusyouththeatre.org. Not appropriate for children under 8.
Dance
“The Sleeping Beauty”: Olympic Ballet Theatre of Edmonds celebrates its 35th anniversary with a production of the ballet at 1 p.m. April 3 at Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave., and 7 p.m. April 9, at Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N. Everett Gala Ball: The 2016 Everett Gala Ball, a competition for dancers and choreographers, is 7 p.m. March 26 at the Dorothy Jayne Studio in Everett. The show features performances by the top 12 finalists, as well as the dance “Isadora,” performed by World Professional Showdance finalist Mikhail Avdeev from Los Angeles and World Cup Professional Latin finalist, Ekaterina Zakharoff of Everett. Riser tickets are $30 for 12 and older. Table tickets are $50 each. Children are $10. Preliminary competition is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 26, and is free.
