Minecraft: A Minecraft building challenge is from 1 to 2:30 p.m. April 8 at the Lake Stevens Library, 1804 Main St. Register at www.sno-isle.org/locations/lakestevens. For kids 10 and older.
Magic: Louie Foxx will enthrall kids ages 4 and older with magic tricks, stunts, comedy and more at 3 p.m. April 9 at the Everett Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave. http://epls.org
Cats: Learn about cats, both domestic and wild, at 2 p.m. April 9 at Mill Creek City Hall Annex, 15720 Main St., Suite 130. Mammal skulls and skins will be displayed and kids can make toys for the cats at PAWS animal shelter. For kids from kindergarten to fifth grade.
Movie: “The Secret Garden” will be shown at 2 p.m. April 9 at the Stanwood Library, 9701 271st St. NW. After the movie, plant some seeds in a flower pot for your own garden.
Sunflowers: Gather in the garden at the Arlington Library, 135 N. Washington Ave., at 11 a.m. April 9 for stories, crafts and activities. Kids will learn about the life cycle of sunflowers, decorate a picture frame with sunflower seeds and paint a pot to plant a sunflower; sno-isle.org/events/
Bounce: Through April 17, the Seattle Center Armory will be transformed into a hub of child-sized entertainment with inflatable rides, balloon artists, face painting, caricature artists and food. $8 for an all day main-floor pass, $4.50 for toddler zone pass, $1.50 for single ride ticket. Hikes: Rangers will lead free, 3-mile hikes through old-growth forest in Rockport State Park at 9:30 a.m. Saturdays through April 30. Hikes at the park, on North Cascades Highway just west of the junction with Highway 530, begin at the parking lot and end with warm drinks in the Discovery Center. Sharks: Learn about the creatures at 2 p.m. April 11 at The Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd. For kids 5 to 11 years old.

Whales: Welcome the return of the gray whales on April 16 and 17 in Langley on Whidbey Island. The event includes educational displays, costume making, children’s activities and a parade on Saturday. A cruise to see the gray whales is on Sunday afternoon. Get details at www.orcanetwork.org.
Laugh: Alex Zerbe, a self-described “human cartoon” presents a show for families at 2 p.m. April 17 at the Marysville Opera House, 1225 Third St. Zerbe has performed for 15 years and appeared on three national TV shows. $5 per person; kids under 2 on laps free. Spring: Enjoy a spring fair at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds April 22 to 24 at the fairgrounds in Monroe. There will be a carnival, fishing, bazaar and more; http://www.evergreenfair.org.
