Spring: Enjoy a spring fair at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds April 22 to 24 at the fairgrounds in Monroe. There will be a carnival, fishing, bazaar and more; http://www.evergreenfair.org.

Monsters: Teens can make sock monsters at 1 p.m. April 22 at the Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd. Materials to make the sock monster and provide inspiration will be provided; http://goo.gl/wTM1jn.

Free: National Park Week continues through April 24; during that time entrance fees will be waived at all national park sites.

Cherry blossom: The Seattle Cherry Blossom &Japanese Cultural Festival is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 22-24 in Seattle Center Armory, Fisher Pavilion and Seattle Center Pavilion. The event features Taiko drums, ikebana flowers, intricate artwork and more; www.cherryblossomfest.org.

Sale: Used kids clothes and gear will be for sale at the Just Between Friends Sale, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 22 and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 23 at Gold Creek Church, 4326 148th St. SE, Mill Creek. All items 50 percent off April 23; lynnwood.jbfsale.com.

Fairies: Kids and adults can create forest fairies from natural materials from noon to 4 p.m. April 23 at Meerkerk Gardens on Whidbey Island, $10 per adult; kids 16 and under free; www.meerkerkgardens.org.

Block party: The Mill Creek Library will celebrate Earth Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 23 at the City Hall Annex Building and parking lot. Learn about ways to be better protectors of the environment. There will be kids crafts, bike helmet fittings, guided trail rides, a food truck and more.

Shiny: A gem, jewelry and mineral show, sponsored by the Everett Rock and Gem Club, is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 30 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 1 at Everett Community College’s Walt Price Student Fitness Center, 2206 Tower St.

Plants: Kids can create their own pot of color annual flowers, just in time for Mother’s Day, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 7 at the Edmonds Farmers Market, on Bell Street north of Fifth Avenue. $10 donation appreciated. There also will be a Children’s Fairy Flower Parade at noon, starting at the Edmonds Library.

Watershed fair: A Watershed Fun Fair is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 7 at the Willow Creek Salmon Hatchery, 95 Pine St., Edmonds. The event includes exhibits, games, nature crafts and activities especially for kids including fish feeding, face painting. There also will be demonstrations on recycling, stormwater, creating wildlife habitat, rain gardens, tours of the native plant garden and fish hatchery. Hikes: Rangers will lead free, 3-mile hikes through old-growth forest in Rockport State Park at 9:30 a.m. Saturdays through April 30. Hikes at the park, on North Cascades Highway just west of the junction with Highway 530, begin at the parking lot and end with warm drinks in the Discovery Center. Bike donations: Sharing Wheels Community Bike Shop, 2531 Broadway Ave., Everett, is asking for donations of kids bikes for its Kid’s Bike Swap from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 12. Bikes with 20 inch and 24 inch wheels are especially needed. Donations earn credit for a larger bicycle. Get details at www.sharingwheels.org.

Touch-A-Truck: Kids can check out large vehicles, like excavators, semi-trucks and a double decker bus at the Port Susan Touch-A-Truck and Spring Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 7 in downtown Stanwood. There will be at least 50 vehicles, a bouncy house, pee wee race, soap box derby cars and more; www.discoverportsusan.com.

Quirky: See “James and the Giant Peach Jr.” on the stage at Everett Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday through April 24. $12-$14; www.villagetheatre.org.

Music Musical storytime, Soundbridge Seattle Symphony Music Discovery Center, 200 University St., Seattle. Kids explore classic musical stories through games, song and dance in this 30-minute class, 10:30 a.m. Fridays. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., children can see, touch and play real instruments. Imagine Children’s Museum: 1502 Wall St., Everett. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. Math: Kids can learn about math in a whole-body, interactive way at Pacific Science Center’s exhibit, Math Moves, through May 1.
