Shiny: A gem, jewelry and mineral show, sponsored by the Everett Rock and Gem Club, is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 30 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 1 at Everett Community College’s Walt Price Student Fitness Center, 2206 Tower St.
Medieval: The Camlann Festival is April 30 and May 1 in Carnation. There will be minstrels, puppets, magic, arrow shooting and dancing; www.camlann.org.
Ribbit: Learn about native frogs, their habitats and how to have a frog-friendly yard from 1 to 3 p.m. on April 30 at the Edmonds Wildlife Habitat Native Plant Demonstration Garden; pilchuckaudubon.org.
Spring fling: Sammamish Valley Spring Celebration is April 29 and 30, and May 1 in Woodinville. Visit working farms and businesses for farm demonstrations, to take a class and to chat with local artisans. Learn about heirloom veggies, sample freshly pressed apple cider, farm-fresh food and local wine. Farms and businesses will be open throughout. For all ages. Most activities are free. Birds: Imagine Children’s Museum offers a Kid’s Bird Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 7. Sarvey Wildlife will have raptors at the event. There will also be games, art activities and information tables. The event is sponsored by Pilchuck Audubon Society. Museum admission is $10; www.imaginecm.org.
Plants: Kids can create their own pot of color annual flowers, just in time for Mother’s Day, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 7 at the Edmonds Farmers Market, on Bell Street north of Fifth Avenue. $10 donation appreciated. There also will be a Children’s Fairy Flower Parade at noon, starting at the Edmonds Library.
Watershed fair: A Watershed Fun Fair is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 7 at the Willow Creek Salmon Hatchery, 95 Pine St., Edmonds. The event includes exhibits, games, nature crafts and activities especially for kids including fish feeding and face painting. There also will be demonstrations on recycling, stormwater, creating wildlife habitat, rain gardens, tours of the native plant garden and fish hatchery. Touch-A-Truck: Kids can check out large vehicles, like excavators, semi-trucks and a double decker bus at the Port Susan Touch-A-Truck and Spring Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 7 in downtown Stanwood. There will be at least 50 vehicles, a bouncy house, pee wee race, soap box derby cars and more; www.discoverportsusan.com.
Cougars: Learn about cougars in the Pacific Northwest at 7 p.m. May 12 at the Northwest Stream Center in McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett. Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife cougar scientist Brian Kertson will make the presentation. For sixth graders to adults. $7; 425-316-8592 to register.
Orcas: Learn about Puget Sound orcas at 11 a.m. May 14 at the Northwest Stream Center. Killer Whale Tales will be presented by Jeff Hogan who is a professional biologist and photographer. $7; 425-316-8592 to register.
Bike donations: Sharing Wheels Community Bike Shop, 2531 Broadway Ave., Everett, is asking for donations of kids bikes for its Kid’s Bike Swap from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 12. Bikes with 20 inch and 24 inch wheels are especially needed. Donations earn credit for a larger bicycle; www.sharingwheels.org.
Stage
Music Musical storytime, Soundbridge Seattle Symphony Music Discovery Center, 200 University St., Seattle. Kids explore classic musical stories through games, song and dance in this 30-minute class, 10:30 a.m. Fridays. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., children can see, touch and play real instruments. Imagine Children’s Museum: 1502 Wall St., Everett. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. Math: Kids can learn about math in a whole-body, interactive way at Pacific Science Center’s exhibit, Math Moves, through May 1.
