EVERETT — The YMCA of Snohomish County honored its volunteers at a special recognition breakfast Wednesday at the Everett Golf &Country Club.

More than 130 members of the community, board members, friends of the Y and staff were on hand to celebrate the volunteer accomplishments achieved during 2015-16.

The honorees — identified by each YMCA branch in the county, Big Brothers Big Sisters affiliate and the Board of Trustees — represent the best of 1,989 volunteers who donated a total of 34,232 hours of work with policies, programs, and activities.

“As a cause-driven, nonprofit organization, the Y is able to strengthen community because of the dedicated youth, families, and individuals who share our passion,” said Scott Washburn, YMCA of Snohomish County president/CEO, in a statement. “One of the ways we support social responsibility is through the volunteerism that leads the Y’s critical work.”
