AquaSox open second half with 7-4 win over Vancouver

EVERETT — The Everett AquaSox opened the second half of the season with a 7-4 victory over the visiting Vancouver Canadians Tuesday before 1,698 fans at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Everett (1-0 second half, 19-20 overall) scored three times in the sixth thanks to RBI singles by Bryson Brigman and Donnie Walton, and a sac fly from Kristian Brito to snap a 4-4 tie.

The Canadians (0-1, 16-23) led 3-1 and 4-3 in the game. An Austin Grebeck solo home run and Brigman RBI single tied it at 3-3, and Johmbeyker Morales’ RBI triple tied it 4-4 before Everett scored three in the sixth.

Brito doubled in Eric Filia with the game’s first run in the bottom of the first.

Paul Covelle (3-2) got the win with 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. Elliot Surrey went the final 1 2/3 to pick up his second save.

The series continues today at 11 a.m. at Everett Memorial Stadium. Reggie McClain (0-2, 6.52 ERA) will start for the Frogs. Vancouver has lost seven straight.

On Monday the AquaSox scored six runs in the top of the 12th inning and held on to defeat the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 12-9 to salvage the final contest of the five-game set.
