1 dead, 1 in custody after shooting on Camano Island

CAMANO ISLAND — Police were investigating a shooting Thursday on Camano Island that left one man dead.

The incident was reported just before 11:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Heather Drive.

The victim, in his 40s, was dead at the scene. The suspect, a 30-year-old man, knew the slain man. He was taken into custody.

There was no information immediately available about a possible motive for the shooting, said detective Ed Wallace with the Island County Sheriff’s Office.
