Dems hold big primary election leads in 32nd Legislative District

Incumbent Democratic 32nd Legislative District State Reps. Cindy Ryu and Ruth Kagi hold big leads in results of the Tuesday, Aug. 2, primary election posted through Friday.
Results for Position 1 show Ryu leading Republican candidate Alvin Rutledge, her apparent general-election opponent, by a 74 percent to 19 percent margin. Independent candidate Keith Smith has 7 percent.
Incumbent Democrat Ruth Kagi leads Republican David Schirle for Position 2, 65 percent to 22 percent. Democratic challenger Wes Irwin has 10 percent, and Libertarian Alex Hart has 3 percent.
Elections officials expect to post updated returns Monday afternoon.
The 32nd District includes the city of Lynnwood, Woodway and nearby unincorporated areas, parts of Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace, the city of Shoreline and part of northwest Seattle.
