The Everett Silvertips had Wednesday afternoon off as a number of them took in the Mariners-Blue Jays matinee at Safeco Field.
In case you missed it, we had a WHL notebook today that featured former alternate captain Brayden Low, who is skating with the team in anticipation of joining the ECHL’s Rapid City Rush.

We’ve spent much of the past 10 days hard at work on our preview section that will come out on Friday. That’s also the day of the season opener against the Vancouver Giants at their new home in Langley. I’ll be up there for the opener and at Xfinity Arena the following night for the home opener.
If you just can’t wait that long a number of other outlets have been releasing previews in recent days. Colleague Andy Eide, who covers the Seattle Thunderbirds for mynorthwest.com and the WHL for Sportsnet has this look at the Western Conference and this preview of the Eastern Conference. Over at the WHL website Taylor Rocca has this look at the U.S. Division. If you want incredible detail on every team head over to www.dubnetwork.ca, where Brandon Rivers has this Tips preview.
The first WHL injury report came out Wednesday with forward Riley Sutter and defenseman Mackenzie Dwyer the only listed casualties. Sutter skated after practice Tuesday on his own, while Dwyer is still recovering from the ACL tear he suffered in January.
The roster is beginning to take shape for the opening weekend. It likely will change a bit when Carter Hart, Noah Juulsen and Eetu Tuulola are returned from their respective NHL camps in the coming weeks. The timing, of course, remains up to those individual franchises.
2000-born forward Dawson Butt has officially been assigned to the Junior Silvertips AAA midget team, while 1998-born defenseman Carter Brown is in the process of being reassigned. As of Wednesday that leaves 23 players (14 forwards, seven defensemen, two goalies) still in the mix for the weekend. The total includes Sutter and excludes Dwyer and the three at NHL camps.
Speaking of those guys away at NHL camps, Juulsen got some love from the bilingual Montreal Canadiens account:

And Hart is also gaining compliments:
Carter Hart is easily the best #Flyers goaltending prospect I've seen in my days of coveting this team.
