LYNNWOOD — A Lynnwood High School teacher was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with one of her students.

The teacher, 25, was booked into Snohomish County Jail for investigation of sexual misconduct with a minor. She’s accused of improper behavior with a boy who was 16 at the time.

Detectives arrested the woman while they served a search warrant Wednesday morning in the 2000 block of 196th Street SE, said Shari Ireton, spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

The Edmonds School District learned of the alleged misconduct and promptly notified a sheriff’s deputy who works as a school resource officer. The sheriff’s Special Investigations Unit opened a case.

“During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the suspect and victim developed a relationship which, over time, became sexual,” Ireton said.

The boy is now 17.

The school district has been cooperative throughout the investigation, Ireton said.
