Everett Silvertips deal G Lasse Petersen to Red Deer Rebels

The Everett Silvertips dealt goaltender Lasse Petersen to the Red Deer Rebels Thursday in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick in the 2017 bantam draft and a conditional sixth-round pick in 2020.
Petersen, 19, was assigned to Swan Valley of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League two weeks ago. The Tips acquired Petersen from the Spokane Chiefs in July, presumably because Tips starting goalie Carter Hart stands a good chance to make the Team Canada roster for World Juniors in late December. But Petersen holds dual Canadian-Danish citizenship, meaning he might be gone competing for Denmark during that same timeframe.
Petersen started the second game of the season and earned the win as the Tips knocked off the Vancouver Giants 3-1. He recorded 12 saves on 13 shots in that victory for a .923 save percentage. Incidentally, he also leads the WHL in goals against average at 1.00, though in an admittedly small sample size.
The Tips return to action Friday at Spokane.
