Man allegedly beat stepson unconscious in Getchell area

ARLINGTON — A 36-year-old man was arrested late Tuesday after allegedly beating his stepson unconscious.

The 17-year-old boy was not breathing when he was taken to the hospital, said Shari Ireton with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. An update on the boy’s condition was not available Wednesday afternoon.

The incident was reported about 11:30 p.m. along 107th Avenue NE in the Getchell area. The man reportedly arrived at the home “intoxicated and combative,” Ireton said. A confrontation broke out between the man, the victim and the victim’s 19-year-old brother.

The man was booked into jail on investigation of first-degree assault. He is expected to make a first appearance in court Thursday.
