EWU’s Kupp named FCS Offensive Player of the Year

Eastern Washington wide receiver Cooper Kupp has been named the 2016 FCS Offensive Player of the Yearby the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision Athletic Director’s Association.

It’s the second straight year Kupp has won the award. Northern Iowa defensive end Karter Schult was named the FCS Defensive Player of the Year.

Kupp, a senior, led FCS in receiving yards per game (130.8), was second in receptions per game (9.0), and tied teammate Shaq Hill for the FCS lead in receiving touchdowns (17). Kupp had a Big Sky record 117 catches (sixth in FCS history) for 1,700 yards (fourth in FCS history) in 13 games played this season. He finished his career with 428 receptions for 4,664 yards and 73 touchdowns.
