Tuohy elected Everett council president

EVERETT — The Everett City Council on Wednesday elected Judy Tuohy council president for the coming year. She had been council vice president in 2016.

The council presidency coordinates agendas with city staff and runs the city council meetings.

Tuohy won a special election to fill an unexpired council term in November 2014. She won election the following year to a full term.

The council also elected Cassie Franklin to be the council vice president for 2017.

Tuohy is the executive director of the Schack Art Center. Franklin is the CEO of Cocoon House.
