Vote to bring new Lake Stevens library to fruition

Published 1:30 am Tuesday, January 10, 2017

Voters residing within the Lake Stevens School District boundaries will have the opportunity to show some love to their library on Valentine’s Day. Two yes votes on the Feb. 14 election ballot, one designating the Lake Stevens Library Capital Facilities Area, and the other a vote of support for a bond leading to the construction of a new library will complete a much needed and desired action in our community — bringing a new library to Lake Stevens.

In review of the project, I am pleased to see that half of the land acquisition cost, along with closing costs, was pledged up front by the Sno-Isle Board of Trustees. The land is adjacent to property purchased last year by the city of Lake Stevens, where plans to build much needed city facilities are underway. The vision and action taken by Sno-Isle and the city of Lake Stevens is refreshing.

Among the many benefits of the proposed library, I am most excited for is a large community room that will offer an array of groups and organizations a place to gather and meet. HOAs, neighborhood watch groups, youth sports boards and others will all be able to access the space for their desired needs.

On Feb. 14 join me as I support the community of Lake Stevens by voting yes twice for a new Lake Stevens Library.
