Four to be inducted into WSCA Football Coaches Hall of Fame

Four former coaches will be inducted to the Washington State Coaches Association Football Coaches Hall of Fame on Jan. 28.

The induction banquet will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Crown Plaza Hotel in SeaTac.

Barry Reifel, Wayne Sortun, Curt Kramme and Doug Makaiwi will be honored.

Reifel coached East Valley (Yakima) for 26 years, leading the Red Devils to 12 state playoff appearances, three semifinal appearances and two second-place finishes.

Sortun coached Capital for 20 years, winning the 2A state championship in 1996, the 3A state championship in 1998 and earning a second-place finish in the 4A ranks in 2002.

Kramme was hired as Lynden’s head coach in 1991 and led the Lions to more than 200 victories and seven state championships.

Makaiwi coached Raymond from 1983-2004, winning the state B championship in 1993.
