The Everett Silvertips returned to the Xfinity Arena ice Wednesday in preparation for yet another three-in-three set of games this weekend.

Today was the first chance I had to talk with head coach Kevin Constantine since the team concluded its Eastern Division with a 5-1 record to reclaim the top spot in the Western Conference standings.
Constantine confirmed that 16-year-old rookie forward Orrin Centazzo broke his collarbone following a hit from Prince Albert’s Kolby Johnson last week and added that Centazzo will need season-ending surgery. Johnson, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound 18-year-old received a three-game suspension for this hit on the 5-foot-7, 150-pound Centazzo:

Here another GIF showing more of Johnson's approach. At the risk of homerism, this is 5 minutes and a suspension for being big and strong pic.twitter.com/ixCeRb2F7y

Initially the referees only gave Johnson a two-minute minor penalty, but upped it to five minutes and gave Johnson a game misconduct after talking to the Everett coaching staff and one another.
“I think the refs, when they initially made the call, saw our player get up and come off the ice and assumed there was no injury and made a two-minute call,” Constantine told me Wednesday. “I can’t tell you why. I saw there was two minutes up there, we had a discussion with the refs and I think they talked it over further and realized that the player had been injured on the play, which I don’t think they had factored into their decision at the time of the call.”
That led to plenty of outrage from the Prince Albert players and coaches, and they didn’t mince words.
“I agree that it’s unusual that a call gets changed, but we saw a call last year in the playoffs here when they already started play and came back at the next whistle and changed it to a goal based on that information,” Constantine added. “So it’s not the first time I’ve seen a call changed.”
Evidently that wasn’t Prince Albert’s only point of contention as the organization was fined $500 for “for inadequate security at officials’ exit” following the game. Not sure exactly what that means, but it sounds like perhaps the officials were “addressed” by the organization afterward (you have to scroll a bit).
So what does this all mean? Well, the Tips called up listed right winger Keith Anderson from the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of BCHL. The 19-year-old skated in 39 career WHL games with the Victoria Royals, scoring a goal and adding five assists along with 37 penalty minutes. He skated in 33 games with six points and a plus-three rating for the Royals last season.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pounder has four goals and four assists in 29 games with Alberni Valley this season, and had four points in 12 games last year with the BCHL’s Vernon Vipers.
The native of Hermiston, Ore., was originally selected in the sixth round by Victoria in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft.
