SEATTLE — Alexys Swedlund had a career-best 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including four 3-pointers, Caila Hailey scored seven of her career-high 17 points in the fourth quarter and Washington State rallied from a 14-point deficit to beat Colorado 79-78 in the Pac-12 Tournament on Thursday night.

Kayla Washington tied her career-best with 12 points, on 6-of-8 shooting, and grabbed nine rebounds and Pinelope Pavlopoulou scored 10 for seventh-seeded Washington State (12-18). The Cougars will face No. 2 seed, and 10th-ranked, Stanford in the quarterfinals on Friday.

Hailey hit two free throws to give Washington State a 76-68 lead with 2:18 to play, but Alexis Robinson and Haley Smith sandwiched 3-pointers around a Pavlopoulou foul shot before Kennedy Leonard hit two free throws to pull Colorado (15-15) within one with 19 seconds left.

Arizona State 72, Utah 54

SEATTLE — Quinn Dornstauder scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and fifth-seeded Arizona State beat No. 12 seed Utah on Thursday in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament.

Sabrina Haines scored 12 points and Sophie Brunner 11 for the Sun Devils (19-11), who will play No. 4 seed UCLA in the quarterfinals on Friday. The Sun Devils shot 42 percent, 10 percent better than Utah, and made 23-of-26 free throws. It was Dornstauder’s fifth double-double this season.

Malia Nawahine and Emily Potter scored 10 points each for the Utes (16-14).

California 71, USC 58

SEATTLE — Kristine Anigwe scored 34 points with 13 rebounds and four blocks and Califiornia pulled away from ninth-seeded USC in the opening round of the Pac-12 Tournament on Thursday.

Cal was up 48-45 entering the fourth quarter and Anigwe scored the Bears’ first nine points and had 11 in the period. Anigwe’s fifth 30-point game of the season set a school record in the tournament.

Mikayla Cowling had 12 points, making all six of her free throws in the last 1:13, and had seven assists. Mi’Cole Cayton also had 12.

The Bears (19-2) face top-seeded and sixth-ranked Oregon State in the quarterfinals on Friday.

Oregon 70, Arizona 63

SEATTLE — Oregon held on late to top Arizona in the first round of the Pac-12 tournamnet Thursday night.

Sabrina Ionescu led the Ducks with 22 points.

Oregon advances to face Washington at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
