SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – University of Washington freshman point guard Markelle Fultz was named to the Pac-12 All-Conference first team Monday. He also was named to the All-Freshman Team.

Fultz finished the 2016-17 regular season as the conference’s leading scorer at 23.2 points per game. UW players have led the Pac-12 in scoring for two straight years. Andrew Andrews led a year ago at 21.2 points per game. Fultz’s 23.2 points per game is the highest average in the conference’s regular season since Ed Gray of California averaged 24.8 points per game in 1996-97.

Fultz is the nation’s leading freshman scorer and is fifth nationally. Additionally, Fultz is the first guard in 25 years to average 20 points, five rebounds, five assists and shoot 40.0 percent from 3-point range.

Fultz was joined on the 10-member all-conference first team by Bryce Alford, Lonzo Ball and TJ Leaf of UCLA, Dillon Brooks of Oregon, Kyle Kuzma of Utah, Lauri Markkanen of Arizona, Ivan Rabb of California, Reid Travis of Stanford, and Derrick White of Colorado.

Senior Josh Hawkinson of Washington State, a graduate of Shorewood High School, made the second team.

The All-Freshman Team included Fultz, Ball, Leaf, Markkanen and Rawle Alkins of Arizona.

Individual honors went to Brooks (Player of the Year), Ball (Freshman of the Year), Jordan Bell of Oregon (Defensive Player of the Year), Chimezie Metu of USC (Most Improved) and Sean Miller of Arizona (Coach of the Year).
