The Opponent
The Spokane Chiefs entered Tuesday’s game at Seattle with a record of 26-28-7-3 (62 points) and fighting for their playoff lives. The Tips have a 3-2-1-1 mark in the season series while Spokane is 4-2-1-0. The Chiefs a young team that has at times given the Tips fits. Spokane’s 4-3 come-from-behind shootout win at Everett on Jan. 22 was the first of seven straight winless games for the Tips, and the Chiefs knocked off Everett 4-1 last week Wednesday at Xfinity Arena.
Players to Watch:
No. 4 Ty Smith (D): The No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 WHL bantam draft.
No. 9 Keanu Yamamoto (F): The Spokane native is the Chiefs’ fourth-leading scorer.
No. 11 Jarret Anderson-Dolan (F): A top NHL draft prospect projected to go in the first three rounds.
No. 17 Kailer Yamamoto (F): The diminutive younger brother of Keanu is projected as a first-round pick in this year’s NHL draft. He had a goal and three assists in last week’s win at Everett.
No. 26 Hudson Elynuik (F): The younger brother of former Silvertip Campbell, and the son of former nine-year NHL veteran Pat, Hudson Elynuik was a third-round pick by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2016 NHL draft.
