EVERETT — A woman was injured in an early morning fire Tuesday in north Everett.

She is expected to survive, Fire Chief Eric Hicks said.

The fire was reported about 5 a.m. at the Highlander apartments on 11th Street. Fire was spewing from windows on both sides of the second floor.

Four units were damaged and about 10 people were displaced, Hicks said. The American Red Cross opened a shelter at a nearby church.

Investigators continue to look into the cause. They have not calculated a damage estimate.

The complex is owned by a limited liability company with an address in Bellevue. It was built in the 1970s. The building did have smoke alarms, according to the city.
