Hart creating excitement in Allentown and other mid-week thoughts

I had planned Tuesday to write a post on Carter Hart’s arrival in Allentown, Pennsylvania, a fact that has generated plenty of excitement among the Philadelphia Flyers faithful.

We’ll get to the Hart stuff in a bit, but first we need to talk more about the Everett Silvertips’ decision not to renew Kevin Constantine’s contract. The announcement triggered plenty of mixed reactions on social media from fans and journalists alike.

Something you absolutely need to read is colleague Nick Patterson’s column in Thursday’s Herald. Nick covered the Tips for their first dozen seasons, including six of Constantine’s eight years behind the bench.

Moving on:

– Hart’s arrival met with great acclaim in Allentown where he joined the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms for their postseason series against the Hershey Bears. The Phantoms are the top affiliate of the Flyers.

He met with the media following his first practice Tuesday:

The South Jersey Courier-Post had a story that alludes to Hart’s preternatural ability to maintain focus. It starts with a message written on his blocker.

– Noah Juulsen is back east. I’m not sure if the plan is for him to join the St. John’s IceCaps for the AHL’s Calder Cup playoffs or to simply observe the Habs’ first-round series. Juulsen wasn’t sure either when I talked to him at exit meetings on Saturday.

– There was talk that Eetu Tuulola might join the Stockton Heat for the AHL playoffs, but a broken right hand derailed those plans. The good news is that the big Finn doesn’t need surgery. He’s headed home to Suomi for the summer where he faces a 4-to-6 week recovery.

– Dominic Zwerger, Everett’s outgoing overage forward posted a message on Twitter thanking both the Spokane and Everett organizations:
