Bob Heirman honored: Future Earth Days in Snohomish County will pay tribute to Bob Heirman’s five-plus decades of work as a sport fisherman, author and conservationist. Earth Day has been celebrated around the globe every April 22 since 1970 to raise environmental awareness, most recently this past Saturday. County Executive Dave Somers and the Snohomish County Council signed a joint resolution to thank Bob and and his wife, Clarajean, “for the legacy you leave for all of Snohomish County to benefit from and hopefully continue to follow in your footsteps.” The Heirmans live in Snohomish.
Time for soccer: The Everett Police Department’s Casino Road Soccer Camp runs the week of June 27 for children ages 8 through 12. “Participants will be introduced to making good choices, being responsible and connecting with the community by having a positive, productive and healthy lifestyle,” according to a news release. The cost is $20 and includes meals. Parents must register in person by May 30 during limited application hours at the Casino Road Boys &Girls Club. The camp is in its ninth year. Donations are welcome to fund scholarships for children, along with support for other camp activities.
