Here are four local prep events to keep an eye on this week:
1. Softball: 4A District 1 tournament championship, 6 p.m. Wednesday. There’s a good chance this game at Phil Johnson Fields in Everett will feature Monroe, Lake Stevens and/or Jackson, the three teams that dominated Wesco 4A this spring. The winner clinches a berth in the 4A state tournament, while the loser has to win a consolation game Thursday to earn a state-tourney spot.
2. Boys soccer: Decatur at Glacier Peak, 7 p.m. Wednesday. In their first season in the Class 4A ranks, the Grizzlies won Wesco 4A and 4A District 1 championships. They’ll try to keep their momentum going in a first-round 4A state tournament game against the Golden Gators, who finished second in North Puget Sound League 4A and third in the West Central/Southwest 4A tournament.
3. Boys track and field: 3A District 1 meet, 3:30 p.m. Wednesday/5:30 p.m. Friday. State spots will be on the line for the Wesco 3A squads at Shoreline Stadium. Team to watch: Arlington, which won Friday’s Wesco 3A North boys meet by a comfortable margin, led by the performances of hurdler Campbell Hudson and thrower Gabriel Green.
4. Baseball: Arlington vs. Eastside Catholic, 10 a.m. Saturday. The Eagles won the Wesco 3A North regular-season title and rebounded from a 3A District 1 tournament loss to Shorewood to beat Snohomish for third place. They open 3A state tournament play at Mount Vernon against the Crusaders, who finished second in the Metro League and won the league tournament.
