Everett CC baseball pitching staff statistics

Wednesday’s story about the Everett Community College baseball team heading to the NWAC tournament focused on the team’s grit, having spent pretty much the entire season on the road because its home field at Everett Memorial Stadium was under water.

This is a little more about the Trojans’ pitching staff, which has been the best in NWAC. In conference play Everett finished first in the league in ERA at 2.21, with Lane coming in a distant second at 2.56. The Trojans also led the league in WHIP at 1.04, edging out Linn-Benton’s 1.10. Here’s Everett’s overall pitching totals from conference play, along with the other seven teams that qualified for the NWAC tournament:

Team W-L ERA IP H R ER BB SO
Everett 19-5 2.21 215.2 153 60 53 75 189
Lane 17-7 2.56 186.2 133 69 53 79 178
Tacoma 19-6 2.72 195.0 155 72 59 79 164
Lower Columbia 21-4 2.73 201.0 183 81 61 43 149
Columbia Basin 19-9 2.89 245.2 214 107 79 103 175
Linn-Benton 17-5 2.94 190.0 137 73 62 72 172
Walla Walla 18-12 3.98 271.2 272 157 120 82 183
Mt. Hood 12-11 4.48 191.0 170 129 95 87 164

Everett’s staff was anchored by its four starters: sophomores Curtis Bafus, Dalton Chapman, Ryan Sandifer and freshman Alex Spahman. Once league play begins NWAC teams typically play two doubleheaders on the weekend, meaning having four reliable starters is a substantial advantage. Here’s the stats for Everett’s starters throughout the whole season:

Name W-L ERA IP H R ER BB SO
Chapman 6-2 1.71 63.0 32 13 12 37 56
Bafus 6-1 1.98 72.2 38 19 16 20 79
Sandifer 7-1 2.35 68.2 56 21 18 18 59
Spahman 5-2 3.77 47.2 48 21 20 21 44

Bafus, Chapman and Sandifer were all named to the All-North Region team.
