Eight Arlington High students disciplined for Snapchat posts

ARLINGTON — School administrators say they’ve disciplined eight Arlington High School students for “inflammatory statements” made on the social media platform Snapchat.

One such statement included the phrase “racist white and proud.” Another message said that “liberals need to die,” and a third contained the F-word followed by a racial slur.

Snapchat is an application for mobile devices that allows users to temporarily share images and videos as private messages or to a wider audience. These messages were visible to Snapchat users at Arlington High School.

The messages were reported to school officials Thursday morning and the students involved were identified. Messages were sent to Arlington High School families as a robo-call and an email, district spokesman Gary Sabol said.

“This is something that we take extremely seriously,” he said. “There’s no place in our district for stuff like this.”
