SEATTLE — Breanna Stewart of the Seattle Storm has been named the WNBA’s Western Conference Player of the Week for the second time in her career.

The league announced her selection Monday.

Stewart helped the Storm (9-10) to a 1-1 record last week. She had 22 points and eight rebounds in a loss to Connecticut on Wednesday, then collected 24 points, nine boards and a career-high six assists in a 90-84 triumph over Atlanta on Saturday night.

Stewart, who is in her second year in the WNBA, has been especially hot of late, averaging 24 points and 9.7 rebounds per game over her past six outings. For the season, she averages just under a double-double at 19.4 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. She has six double-doubles this season, including a 30-point, 10-rebound effort on June 1 at Dallas.

Stewart was last year’s WNBA Rookie of the Year and also earned All-WNBA second-team honors. She needs just 30 points to eclipse the 1,000-point mark for her career.

Seattle plays host to Chicago at 6 p.m. Tuesday at KeyArena.
