LANGLEY, British Columbia — Dorrin Luding recorded the shutout and Connor Dewar scored the game’s only goal as the Everett Silvertips defeated the Prince George Cougars 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Langley Events Centre.
Dewar broke a scoreless tie with 2 minutes, 10 seconds to play in regulation as Matt Fonteyne and Orrin Centazzo provided the assists. A minute later Dewar took a roughing penalty, but Luding and the Silvertips defense stoned the Cougars on their final power play.
Luding finished with 26 saves including 14 in the third period. Everett held a 33-26 shot advantage, but were scoreless on six power-play opportunities.
Dewar leads the team with four preseason goals.
Both Fonteyne and Dewar have seven preseason points.
The Tips (3-1) take on the Vancovuer Giants today at 4 p.m. They return home next weekend for a home-and-home series with Seattle.
