The Central Washington University women’s basketball team is a Snohomish County reunion. The Wildcats open their season this week with two games, including a game at Seattle University on Saturday, and the team’s top three returning scorers — senior forward Taylor Baird (Glacier Peak), senior guard Jasmin Edwards (Lynnwood) and junior guard Sadie Mensing (Glacier Peak) — as well as new head coach Randi Richardson (Arlington) all originally hail from Snohomish County.
How central will Baird, Edwards and Mensing be to this year’s team? Here’s a look at their stats from 2016-17 and how they ranked on the team in each category (stats per game):
| Player | Points | Rebounds | Assists | Blocks | Steals | Minutes |
| Taylor Baird | 12.8 (1) | 8.4 (1) | 1.8 (2) | 1.2 (1) | 0.9 (3) | 28.3 (3) |
| Jasmin Edwards | 10.5 (2) | 3.2 (5) | 5.4 (1) | 0.1 (t-10) | 1.4 (1) | 37.2 (1) |
| Sadie Mensing | 9.3 (3) | 3.1 (t-6) | 1.8 (3) | 0.2 (7) | 1.2 (2) | 32.8 (2) |
Baird and Edwards were unanimous preseason first-team all-GNAC selections.
