It seems people have more faith in a series lead than home-field advantage.
This week’s Seattle Sidelines Blog poll was about the World Series between the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers. Add the two together and it’s an even two-to-one result. Sixty-seven percent of the responders believe the Astros will win the World Series, while 33 percent believe the Dodgers will claim the championship.
The first pitch of Game 6 is in about an hour, so we’ll could find out soon — or maybe not, considering Sunday’s Game 5, won 13-12 by Houston in a 10-inning thriller, lasted longer than five hours. The Astros turn to ace Justin Verlander tonight, who of all the star starting pitchers in this year’s postseason has held up the best. He’s 4-0 with a 2.05 ERA this postseason. But Dodgers starter Rich Hill, though less heralded than the likes of Clayton Kershaw and Yu Darvish, has arguably pitched better based on his 2.77 ERA.
But given the way this year’s drama-filled World Series has gone, it’s going to be a lot of fun deciding a champion, no matter who ends up on top.
