Murphy’s Gordon to announce college commitment on KING 5

Archbishop Murphy star defensive back Kyler Gordon tweeted that he will announce his college commitment Thursday night on KING 5 during the station’s 7 p.m. news broadcast.
The highly ranked four-star prospect will choose between the University of Washington and the University of Notre Dame.
Gordon is ranked by 247Sports as the top overall senior recruit in the state and No. 102 in the nation. He is the nation’s 12th-ranked senior cornerback.
The 6-foot, 185-pound standout also had scholarship offers from Oregon, Stanford, Southern California, UCLA, Utah, Nebraska and Texas Christian.
Gordon intercepted five passes this season and returned one for a touchdown. He also forced three fumbles, including two in the Class 2A state semifinal against Tumwater.
The two-way standout also totaled 1,366 yards and 17 touchdowns on offense, averaging 19 yards per touch. He had 837 yards receiving and 10 touchdown catches, and rushed for 529 yards and seven scores while averaging 13.6 yards per carry.
Gordon helped Archbishop Murphy reach the state semifinals this season, one year after helping the Wildcats to the state title. He was a first-team Herald All-Area selection on both offense and defense for the second consecutive season.
College football’s new 72-hour early signing period began Wednesday and runs through Friday.
