BLOG: Silvertips return to ice on eve of Seattle’s NHL ticket drive

The Everett Silvertips were back to work Wednesday afternoon after two full days away from the rink.

The team spent Tuesday going to see “Game Night” as a group. I’m told Garrett Pilon won the “Patrick Pajak Look-A-Like Contest.” Pajak is Everett’s video performance coach and is known for his fondness of wearing sweaters.

Wednesday was an intense workday as the Tips continue to prep for their final three-in-three of the season.

“We knew coming out today we’d probably be a little bit sluggish, a little bit off, which is what happens when you’re off for 48 hours,” head coach Dennis Williams said. “I guess this time of year it’s more about understanding that they don’t have to be here every day. We don’t have to drill them. They need rest and they need some checkout time because we’re going to play three games in under 48 hours again.”

The Tips are also holding their Parents/Family Weekend this Friday and Saturday. Numerous family members have begun trickling into town, including Ondrej Vala’s mother and sister:

In other news:

You’re probably aware that two weeks ago the Oak View Group filed a bid to bring an NHL franchise to Seattle. The season-ticket drive begins Thursday morning at 10 a.m.

Potential owners Daniel Bonderman and Jerry Bruckheimer, and OVG CEO Tim Leiweke made the media rounds Wednesday including this appearance on “Brock and Salk” on 710 ESPN Wednesday morning:

The entire segment is well worth a listen.

The media circuit continued into the evening and you can read about more about the group’s vision and season-ticket drive, or check out pretty much any local media outlet for additional coverage.
