EVERETT — North Idaho’s RayQuan Evans scored a game-high 47 points to lead the Cardinals to 112-110 double-overtime victory over the Everett Community College men’s basketball team Sunday night in a quarterfinal of the Northwest Athletic Conference quarterfinal.

The loss ended the season for Everett (26-5). North Idaho (24-8) moved on to play Portland next week in the semfinals.

Evans scored 13 points in the second overtime, including a pair of 3-pointers in the final two minutes that put North Idaho in control late.

The Trojans’ Gio Jackson, who finished with a team-high 35 points and had 11 rebounds, drove the distance of the court with four seconds remaining in the first overtime and tied the game with a lay-in after two missed free throws by the Cardinals.

Jackson, who played the entire 50 minutes, scored 11 of his team’s 21 points in the first overtime.

Everett had a chance to seal the game with seven seconds remaining in regulation, but the Trojans turned the ball over on an inbound pass under their own basket.

The Cardinals then tied the game 71-71 when Aushanti Potts-Woods scored on a put-back of an offensive rebound with three-tenths of a second remaining.

The Cardinals took a 10-8 lead with 12:32 remaining in the first half and held the lead until Jackson went on an 8-0 run, converting on a pair of 3-point plays and turning a steal into a go-ahead lay-in to make 61-60 with 4:55 remaining in the second half.

After Everett grabbed the lead, both teams went back and forth, with eight lead changes in the final five minutes of regulation.

After hitting 12 of its first 13 free-throw attempts, Everett left the door open for the Cardinals after missing 4-of-8 free throws in the final two minutes.

Everett’s Conner Moffatt scored 21 points, including 5-for-8 from 3-point range. Teammate Cameron Plautz from Stanwood had a double-double for Everett, with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
