National Voter Registration Day

The League of Women Voters of Snohomish County will help people register to vote as part of National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday. Tables are planned at libraries in Arlington, Edmonds, Lake Stevens, Lynnwood, Marysville, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace, Mukilteo, Snohomish and Everett, and at the Northwest Indian College Tulalip campus.

Regional Fire talk

As Snohomish County Fire District 12 and the City of Marysville continue to consider proposing the formation of a Regional Fire Authority, residents and business representatives are invited to learn more about the process, ask questions and offer input. An RFA Community Conversation is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sept. 27 in council chambers on the second floor of Marysville City Hall, 1049 State Ave., immediately following a committee meeting.

A second opportunity for public input is 4 p.m. Oct. 17 at Marysville Fire District Station 62, 10701 Shoultes Road.

Saving the Island Marble butterfly

Once thought to be extinct, the Island Marble butterfly is making a comeback in the San Juan Islands. University of Washington Bothell lecturer Amy Lambert, a conservation biologist, explains why saving the rare butterfly is so important at “Encountering Rarity: Restoring the Endangered Island Marble Butterfly.” The Pub Night Talk, cosponsored by the University of Washington Bothell and McMenamins, is set for 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Haynes Hall at McMenamins Anderson School restaurant, 18607 Bothell Way NE, Bothell.

Free and open to the public. All ages welcome. Seating is first come, first served; doors open at 6 p.m.

Drawing Club at Evergreen Branch

The Evergreen Branch Library has a Drawing Club for those who want to practice their drawing skills and inspire each other. All abilities welcome. The next meet-up is 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The library is at 9512 Evergreen Way, Everett.

Teens can help Assistance League

Learn more about Assistance League of Everett’s Assisteens Auxiliary, which offers volunteer opportunities for teens in grades 7-12, at a recruitment party planned for 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Assistance League building, 5107 Evergreen Way, Everett. Assisteens learn leadership skills and do philanthropic projects and fundraising while having fun and earning service hours.

Fundraiser for Arlington schools

The Arlington Education Foundation plans its annual Wines, Brews and Cruizin’ fundraiser, 6:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at Dwayne Lanes at 20410 Smokey Point Blvd., Arlington. Tickets are $30, or $50 per pair.
