Four non-football prep events to keep an eye on this week:
Girls soccer: Jackson at Lake Stevens, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. In the first of two meetings that could decide the conference title, the Vikings host four-time defending league champion Jackson in a clash of Wesco 4A unbeatens. Lake Stevens has posted seven consecutive shutouts since a season-opening loss to Puyallup, outscoring conference opponents by a combined 22-0 margin through six league matches.
Volleyball: Snohomish at Arlington, 7 p.m. Thursday. This Wesco 3A showdown pits two of the conference’s four remaining unbeaten teams. Snohomish has won 18 of 19 sets this season, and Arlington has won 21 of 24.
Girls soccer: Shorewood at Archbishop Murphy, 7 p.m. Thursday. Riding a nine-match unbeaten streak, the Wesco 3A-leading Wildcats host Shorewood in a key conference clash. Wesco 3A newcomer Archbishop Murphy is sitting atop the conference with 22 points through eight league matches. Shorewood is tied for third in Wesco 3A with 18 points in seven league matches.
Cross country: Hole in the Wall Invitational, 9 a.m. Saturday at Lakewood H.S. More than 100 schools are set to compete in one of the Pacific Northwest’s biggest annual prep cross country meets. The event includes numerous local teams and schools from across the state, as well as squads from Alaska, British Columbia, Oregon, California and Arizona. The varsity races begin at 2 p.m.
