Ask Congress to increase funding to fight TB

Seems unusual to see a letter to the editor about tuberculosis, yet it is the world’s most deadly infectious disease (“Work to eradicate tuberculosis worldwide,” The Herald, Sept. 24.)
Congress agrees that this disease must be dealt with: 106 members of the House and 43 senators, including both of our senators and Reps. Larsen and DelBene, sent a letter to the administration calling for bold U.S. leadership at the high level United Nations meeting this week on TB. In addition, both the House and the Senate called for an increase in this year’s appropriation for the battle against tuberculosis.
We can help save thousands of additional lives by asking those who represent us in Congress to choose the higher amount proposed by the House. Constituent calls and letters can help make this life-saving decision.
