Love in the Soup

Recovery Cafe Everett holds a Love in the Soup fundraiser with brunch, music and stories of the nonprofit’s work, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Floral Hall in Everett’s Forest Park, 802 E Mukilteo Blvd. Donations will be collected at the event. RSVP requested.

Volunteer with Christmas House

Christmas House is an all-volunteer effort that helps provide gifts to thousands of Snohomish County children from low-income households. Volunteers are needed. Sign up at www.christmas-house.org for shifts that start in November. Donations also welcome.

Pancakes for Norway

The Edmonds Sons of Norway will host a pancake breakfast and bake sale, 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Edmonds Masonic Center, 515 Dayton St. Norwegian pancakes with strawberries and syrup, ham and beverages for $8, $5 ages 6-10, free for kids age 5 and younger. Live music, craft and bake sale tables, and free folk dance lessons for kids starting at 10 a.m. Proceeds support the Edmonds Food Bank, Ski for Light outings for mobility- and sight-impaired skiers, scholarships and the Sons of Norway Foundation.

Green Everett work parties

Green Everett hosts volunteer work parties at local urban forests. Upcoming work parties are 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Forest Park, Oct. 20 at Thornton A. Sullivan Park, and an Oct. 26 Green Everett Day celebration at Hannabrook Park. RSVP requested to greeneverett@forterra.org or 425-238-0065.

5K for EdCC

Edmonds Community College holds its annual 5K Walk and Run on Oct. 13. Advance registration is open until 5 p.m. Oct. 11 for $35, or pay $45 at the event. Teams of 10 can register for $500 by Oct. 8.

Homecoming parade

The Arlington High School homecoming parade will start at 6 p.m. Wednesday from Presidents Elementary School and end at Legion Park, where there will be an ice cream social.

Robotic rovers

The Everett Public Library invites kids in grades 2-5 to make rovers using special Lego sets, 2 p.m. Oct. 13 at the main branch at 2702 Hoyt Ave. Kids will use touch sensors and program and build a remote to maneuver a rover through “unexplored terrain.” Registration is required.

Poetry at museum

Steve Bertrand, a poet and Cascade High School teacher, will read some of his work at a free poetry night, 6 p.m. Thursday at the Tulalip Tribes’ Hibulb Cultural Center, 6410 23rd Ave. NE. Admission is free that day.
